Krista Ulujuk Zawadski

Krista Ulujuk Zawadski is an Inuk curator, anthropologist, land-based educator, researcher, scholar, and writer from Kangirłiniq (Rankin Inlet), Nunavut. Her work is deeply rooted in her upbringing in Nunavut, reflecting a commitment to Inuit knowledge, culture, and intergenerational learning. Krista is a faculty member at the Dechinta Centre for Research and Learning, where she delivers land-based post-secondary education, research, and community programming across Nunavut and the Northwest Territories.

Her research explores Inuit sewing, beading, and cultural technologies, and she is a founding member of the Agguaq Collective, a collaborative initiative that studies, recreates, and teaches ancestral Inuit clothing practices. Krista’s curatorial projects include INUA at WAG-Qaumajuq and Nuvisi: Threading Our Beads at Qatiktalik. By engaging with piqutiit (cultural belongings), she fosters meaningful connections between Inuit knowledge holders and younger generations, ensuring the transmission of knowledge, skills, and stories across time.

Krista’s scholarship bridges academic and community spaces, combining research, curation, and hands-on making to strengthen Inuit cultural heritage, support revitalization efforts, and empower the next generation of Inuit leaders and creators.
